    A. To switch to a different kernel-related version, click on the Grub platter and click Advanced Options. From here you can choose the exact kernel you want to boot from. Then, when the system boots up, simply remove the kernel with the apt deprive command.

The easiest way is to install one of the Linux kernel image packages from your system. They can be obtained with apt-get or aptitude if one wants to use the command set, or with Synaptic if one wants to use a GUI.

In order to install a specific Linux kernel image, you must first decide which one you want to use. Start with

search for Linux image in apt-cache

Please note that images are available for different options, depending on the person’s architecture.

A good overview of available versions can be seen on Linux as well.

You may want to enable the unstable version instead of the experimental version and/or choose a different mirror and variant that makes sense. The version and abi version are probably different for you.

This will most likely have other dependencies, but usually they shouldn’t affect your immutable (or Test) system. However, you can then choose an older version with your bootloader.

There is NO indication in the syslogs of loading a new kernel – definitely an old one. Would it be normal to point to problems with the kernel? Is there a guide for enabling debug logging in Grub?
